The Art Of Refocusing Part 2

The art of refocusing your business is about taking a step back to see how you can make improvements. It's about recognizing the need for change before it's too late. It's about understanding where you want to be in the future and then figuring out how to get there. It’s about taking action and making your vision a reality.

In our previous podcast about refocusing, we talked a lot about the importance of taking the time each year and looking at your goals. Are you hitting your goals? In this episode, we go through a specific set of questions we ask ourselves that can practically help us refocus as business owners or business leaders. If you ask yourself these questions, you can be sure that your goals and future actions align with the purpose of your business.

QUESTIONS TO ASK

What is the purpose of your business? What are some specific goals you are going to accomplish this year? What will you do differently this year from last year? How will those things change your business? If we do these things, how does it change our goal for the next 5 years or so?

Once you answer those questions you can start identifying your 10, 50, and 100-meter targets. 10-meter targets are your immediate needs, the projects you are working on, and your day-to-day tasks. 50-meter targets are 90-day targets…where you want to be in 90 days. 100-meter targets are 12 months from now you would like to be ___. You can modify your 10, 50, and 100-meter target list on a monthly basis. What I’ve found helpful is to physically write out the list of targets you have identified in your notebook or planner. This helps you stay focused on what matters most during that time period and allows you to decide how to tackle each item from your list.

All this can help you achieve your goals and refocus your business on what matters. Listen to our podcast here as we go into more depth about what this refocusing is all about.
